Swim Program

Swim Instruction
Posted on 03/08/2022

Swim instruction will take place at the Coggan Aquatic Center / La Jolla High School. Students will change into swimwear at Muirlands and walk to and from the pool on Nautilus Dr. This activity is part of the physical education curriculum, and is a class activity just like basketball and volleyball.

A permission slip is required because students will be off campus. It is necessary that parents specifically authorize that their child be included in this activity. Supervision will be provided by the physical education teachers. Muirlands Middle School will take every precaution to assure the welfare and safety of your child participating in this activity. However, it is important that you understand that Muirlands Middle School cannot assume financial or legal liability in case of injury or accident. Low cost insurance is available for students.

Activity Sponsors: Suzanne Serafin, Rich Gray, and Rob Wood - physical education teachers.

This activity has been approved by Jeff Luna - Muirlands Middle School Principal

Your child is required to bring appropriate swimwear (for swim instruction) and should bring their own: TOWEL, SANDALS, AND GOGGLES (optional) every day. They are also required to take their damp items home daily. If they forget their swimwear, clean appropriate suits/clothing will be provided for them to swim in.

If there is a medical reason your child cannot participate they will still go to the pool and will be given an alternative assignment. Parents / guardians are asked to e-mail their student's teacher in advance with the specific reason(s) and dates to be excused.
